The event dedicated to January 20 tragedy
On January 18, an event dedicated to the memory of martyrs on January 20 was held at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) with the participation of teachers and students of the Department of Humanities. The event began with a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the tragedy.
Informing about the socio-political processes of that time, Professor Jamal Mustafayev, Head of the Department of Humanities, spoke about the events that took place in Baku on the night of January 19-20, 1990, about people's struggle for national freedom and territorial integrity. Sharing their memories, living witnesses of the events of January 20, Professor of the Department of Humanities Irada Nuriyeva and Associate Professor of the Department Yashar Ahmadov stressed that the blood of our martyrs was not shed in vain and the foundation of our independent state was laid at that time. The event dedicated to the political history of our country covered the truths related to the events of January 20 and emphasized the importance of bringing this truth to the younger generation.
