According to the order of the rector of the No. 04-151 dated 02/03/2016 of the department “Economics and management of the fuel and energy complex” and “Economics and management of the oil refining and petrochemical industry” “Economics of the energy and petrochemical industries and management” “The chair was formed. Later, according to the order of the rector No. 04-456 dated May 27, 2021, the department of “Economics and Management of the Energy and Petrochemical Sector” was renamed the department of “Management”. The head of the department is D.Econ Sc. Professor Gazanfar Salman oglu Suleymanov.
The department trains specialists in the following specialties at the undergraduate and graduate levels:
The department has specialized teaching staff. The number of employees in the department is 36 people. Including 2 professors, 14 associate professors, 14 teachers and 6 laboratory assistants working at the department.
“Economy of Azerbaijan”, “Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship and Entry into Business”, “Strategic Marketing”, “Advertising”, “Sales Management”, “Soft S/F Skills”, “Hard Skills” at the bachelor’s level of the Department of Skills) S/F” etc. (51 subjects in total), and at the master’s level “Research methods”, “Modern problems of organization and management of industry”, “Restructuring of industry and production infrastructure”, “Modern strategic analysis and forecasting”, “Economic problems of the oil industry” " and development of gas fields”, “Fundamentals of design analysis in the oil and gas industry”, etc. (18 subjects in total) are taught. In order to impart practical knowledge to students, some topics taught at the department are systematized by invited experts from the industry.
In the 2023-2024 academic year, the department assigned 7 dissertation candidates, 1 full-time doctoral student, 10 part-time doctoral students, and in the 2018-2019 academic year - 6 dissertation candidates, 3 full-time doctoral students. The department has 14 doctoral students assigned to correspondence courses.
Students of the department have production experience in SOCAR and its subordinate companies "Azerigaz IB", "Construction Trust Neftgaz", "Azerkimya IB", "Trust for Integrated Drilling Works", "Research Design Institute "Oil Gas", "Gas Export Administration" and others. enterprises.
Employees of the department conduct research in the direction of solving current problems of economic science. Employees of the department give scientific reports on current economic problems at both domestic and international conferences.
At the same time, the department regularly organizes scientific seminars, and also doctoral students and dissertation candidates assigned to the department conduct seminars related to their scientific work. Scientific seminars are held in the context of heated and interesting scientific discussions.
The department, at the expense of the state budget in various spheres of the economy, conducts research work on the topic “Assessment of the current state of financial security of business entities in Azerbaijan.” In addition, over the past 5 years, the department has published 200 scientific articles, 20 textbooks and guidelines.
In the 2023-2024 academic year, 62 articles (domestic - 49; international journals - 13, including Poland - 2, Denmark - 1, Ukraine - 1, Kazakhstan - 1, Russia - 4, England - 1, Turkmenistan - 1, Spain - 1, Turkey - 1) and 3 textbooks, 2 monographs, 1 methodological manual, 6 dissertations were published.
