The training of chemists and engineering personnel at the Faculty of Chemical Technology began in 1920 with the establishment of the Baku Polytechnic Institute. In the early years, this structure functioned as a department within the Faculty of Oil Industry, and after 1934 it operated as independent faculties under the names Oil Technology, Petrochemical, Technology, Chemistry, and since 1959 as the Faculty of Chemical Technology.
