The specialist and personnel training at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) is currently implemented based on the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Education Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan, decrees and resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers and Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Education Reform Program and other legal and regulatory documents.
At ASOIU, education is provided at all three levels of higher education - Bachelor’s, Master and Doctorate degrees. Bachelor's degree education is conducted in 30 specialities, out of which 18 specialities have undergone international accreditation. There are currently 7 faculties and 24 departments functioning within the university. At the undergraduate level in various scientific fields, there are up to 15,000 students, including 648 students in SABAH groups and 587 students studying at UFAZ. At the master's level, there are 2,962 students, including 81 students continuing their education at UFAZ. At the doctoral level, there are 303 individuals engaged in scientific activities.
ASOIU has dual diploma programs with the University of Strasbourg in France (at the Bachelor’s, Master and Doctorate degrees) and Warwick University in the United Kingdom (at the Master's degrees).
Currently, ASOIU has recruited a teaching staff of 583 academic staff, including 45 professors, 274 associate professors, and 264 teachers. Since the academic year 2014/2015, SABAH groups have been established at ASOIU to improve the quality of education, create a new and different environment in higher education, train competent, skilled, and prepared students, and meet the increasing demands of the labour market. Currently, 648 undergraduate and 61 master's students are studying in SABAH groups, and more than 100 teachers teach various subjects using modern methods.
Currently, nearly 300 foreign students from Türkiye, Russia, China, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Yemen, Iran, Syria, India, Sri Lanka, Georgia, and other countries are studying at ASOIU.
7 students of ASOIU receive the Presidential scholarship, 3 students receive the scholarship named after A. Mirzajanzadeh, 2 students receive the scholarship named after Academician Y.Kh. Mammadaliev, 2 students - Academician M.F.Nagiev, 2 students - Academician Kh.B.Yusifzade, 2 - A.Akhundov's, 2 - Ch.Juvarly's, 2- A.A.Alizadeh's, 2 - N.Ganjavi's, 2 - Academician I.Ibragimov's.
21 UFAZ students receive a scholarship named after Movsum bey Khanlarov.
More than 5,000 students receive state scholarships.
ASOIU operates 2 scientific research laboratories. The university expands opportunities for students to gain practical knowledge and skills obtained in classrooms and laboratories. According to the curriculum and schedule, ASOIU students participate in education and practical training at different companies each year.
The university collaborates with 420 institutions in practical internships. The leading base companies in close collaboration with the university include SOCAR, 'Azərikimya' Production Union, Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery, AzerGold, NORM, AzerSun, Coca-Cola, STP, and other state and private institutions.
