Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University trains highly qualified engineering specialists for our state and our homeland. All necessary conditions have been created at the university to ensure that young people receive high-quality education. In this regard, the university is equipped with modern scientific and educational laboratories, classrooms, and computer centers, and the teaching process is carried out by highly qualified professors and academic staff. At ASOIU, specialist training is conducted at all three levels of higher education – bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels. Currently, the university offers 31 bachelor’s programs across 7 faculties, 9 of which have international accreditation.
At the university, 30 master’s programs covering 62 specializations are available, 6 of which have international accreditation. In addition, ASOIU has dual degree programs with two prestigious universities – ASOIU–University of Strasbourg and ASOIU–University of Warwick.
At present, the university cooperates with more than 700 public and private enterprises, which positively contributes to students gaining substantial practical experience in their fields and securing employment. According to conducted surveys, the employment rate of ASOIU graduates exceeds 80%.
In recent years, ASOIU has made significant progress in international rankings. The ranking results for 2026 have been announced, and according to the “QS World University Rankings 2026,” ASOIU demonstrated notable improvement compared to the previous year, ranking in the 851–900 range.
According to the “World Scientist and University Rankings 2026” published by AD Scientific Index, ASOIU ranked 2nd among higher education institutions in Azerbaijan.
ASOIU has also significantly improved its position in the “QS Europe University Rankings 2026.” Over the past three years, the university has advanced by 85 positions. In the last year alone, it moved up 45 places, ranking 349th among 958 European universities with a score of 35.1. At the same time, ASOIU has improved its position in the “QS Europe: Western Asia” regional ranking, rising from 19th to 16th place over the past three years.
ASOIU has also achieved significant progress in the prestigious “GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025.” Compared to 2024, the university rose by 166 positions in the global ranking, moving from 788th to 622nd place in 2025 with a score of 6457.5.
Today, the university maintains direct partnership relations with 40 universities across more than 15 countries. One of the main goals of ASOIU as a higher education institution is not only to train highly qualified engineering specialists but also to develop as a research university. Between the 2020–2025 academic years alone, the university’s academic staff published 2,337 scientific articles in Scopus and 1,111 articles in Web of Science, which are globally recognized scientific databases.
Every year, thousands of young people who will contribute to the development of the national economy and industry in fields such as geology, petroleum engineering, chemistry, IT, and many others choose ASOIU. The university has set major goals to justify the trust of its students. Today, our university continues to strengthen its activities, training highly qualified specialists in line with the demands of the time—benefiting our people and the world, and contributing to economic development—while maintaining a high level of education and teaching.
Currently, the university has 7 faculties and 24 departments. There are 31 bachelor’s programs, 18 of which have international accreditation. The university offers 30 master’s programs covering 62 specializations. Currently, nearly 15,000 students are studying at the bachelor’s level across various scientific fields at the university.
