Faculty of Information Technologies and Management
The Faculty of “Information Technologies and Management” of the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University was established in 1961 with the creation of the Faculty of “Automation of Production Processes.” The faculty includes the departments of “Electronics and Automation,” “Computer Engineering,” “Instrument Engineering,” and “General and Applied Mathematics.”
In the Department of Electronics and Automation:

Brief description of the structure:
The Faculty of “Information Technologies and Management” is one of the leading structural units of the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University that carries out the training of highly qualified specialists in the fields of modern information technologies and management. Education at the faculty is organized based on modern educational standards and innovative methods. Special attention is paid to the formation of practical skills along with theoretical knowledge. The faculty makes a significant contribution to training professional specialists in the IT and management fields of the country.
Main duties:
Training of highly qualified specialists in the fields of information technologies and management;
Organization of the educational process based on modern educational standards and innovative methods;
Development of students’ practical and professional skills alongside theoretical knowledge;
Conducting scientific research and involving students in this process;
Development of cooperation with industrial and business organizations;
Integration of modern IT technologies and management approaches into education;
Development of students’ analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Management
Farid Aghayev
Dean, PhD in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor
He was born on August 17, 1954, in the village of Narimanli, Goycha region of Western Azerbaijan. In 1971–1976, he graduated from the Faculty of “Automation of Production Processes” of AzNKI (now ASOIU). In 1992, he received the academic degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences.
Within the framework of the European Union TEMPUS program, he participated in international educational projects and played an active role in the implementation of joint programs with universities in Germany and other European countries. He is the author of more than 100 scientific articles, teaching aids, and methodological materials, 1 monograph, and 2 inventions.
He has been a member of the Scientific Council of ASOIU, chairman of the Scientific Council and the Scientific-Methodological Commission of the Faculty of “Information Technologies and Management.” He has participated as an expert in accreditation and attestation processes in cooperation with the Ministry of Education.
He was awarded a certificate of honor in 2013, and in 2020 he was awarded the “Progress” medal by the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the 100th anniversary jubilee medal of ASOIU.
