The department offers bachelor’s degree programs in Azerbaijani, Russian, and English for the following specialties:

1. Computer Engineering
“Computer Engineering” specialty focuses on training specialists in software, automated systems, and computer network design, planning, construction, testing, and management. Computer engineering encompasses all technical and software tools that ensure the storage of information in electronic environments, its processing through algorithmic methods, and its delivery to users. Graduates of the Computer Engineering bachelor's program can work in various government, commercial, local, and international companies or carry out individual projects. Graduates of this program can pursue careers as Software Developers, Programmers, Network Administrators, System Administrators, Database Administrators, System Analysts, Complex Computer System Designers, System Engineers, Integrated Systems Designers, Web and Mobile Systems Designers, Distributed Systems Designers, and Software Project Managers.

2. Information Technology
“Information Technology” specialty focuses on the collection, acquisition, storage, protection, processing, and transmission of information within an organizational structure using computing technology. The goal is to form and utilize information resources according to user needs. Graduates of this field can work in industries such as machinery, oil refining, the chemical industry, nuclear energy, telecommunications, and banking. Specialists in this area research, develop, apply, and support information technologies and systems.

3. Information Security
"Information Security" specialty focuses on preventive protection of information systems, detection of security incidents, incident management, and planning and implementing security solutions. Courses cover concepts such as information security threats in computer systems and networks, security policies, cryptographic methods, and network data protection technologies. Graduates can work in fields related to information security and cybersecurity, where they will address the needs of the labor market in these areas.

4. Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering
“Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering” specialty trains highly skilled professionals for modern industries such as aviation, space technology, medical, energy, military industries, and oil and gas sectors. The program covers the design, software, manufacturing, installation, and calibration of mechatronic and robotic systems. Graduates can work in sectors demanding experts in mechatronic and robotic systems.

The department also offers master’s programs in the following specialties:

1. Information Technologies and Systems Engineering with specializations in “Information Systems in Management” and “Information Protection and Security.”
The master’s program in “Information Systems in Management” provides education in computer design, analysis, and application fundamentals, covering topics like information systems implementation, internet technologies, modern business technology, network creation, and database management systems.
“Information Protection and Security” master's program covers topics such as computer security, encryption methods, and legal aspects of information security. Graduates are trained to prevent information leakage and manage cybersecurity issues in corporate environments.

2. Computer Engineering
The master’s program in Computer Engineering focuses on software development, computer system design, and related devices. Students gain in-depth knowledge of computer systems, networks, and software. Graduates will be equipped to work on various levels of computing, from microprocessors to complex systems design.

3. Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering with a specialization in “Robots and Robotic Systems.”
The master’s program in “Robots and Robotic Systems” covers the design, construction, and control methods of robots, combining elements from mechanical, electrical engineering, and computer sciences. Graduates will be prepared to work in aerospace, industry, production, transport, and various automated control systems.

The department has organized two conferences and one symposium:

- On May 11-12, 2023, the 1st International Conference on the “4th Industrial Revolution and Information Technologies” was held, organized by the Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University. The conference aimed to explore new technological achievements, address challenges, and promote the 4th industrial revolution's influence on AI, robotics, and IoT.
- On June 7, 2024, a scientific conference titled “Trends in Information Technologies,” dedicated to the 101st anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev’s birth, was organized as part of COP29 at the Azerbaijan-French University. The focus was on trends in automation, robotics, big data, green technologies, and cybersecurity systems.
- On December 19, 2023, a national symposium on "Information Security and Cybersecurity" was held in honor of the 100th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev’s birth. It covered the 4th Industrial Revolution's demands, AI, digital management, and cybersecurity.

The department collaborates with Microsoft, CISCO Network Academy, and PRO-ACADEMY.

From August to September 2020, faculty members participated in “Cisco Networking Academy” IT Essentials courses, and in July-August 2023, they completed cybersecurity training at PRO-ACADEMY, receiving certificates.

Research on "Big Data Processing" is planned for 2021-2025 at the Computer Engineering department. This research focuses on solving the challenges of processing large volumes of unstructured data and creating tools to handle real-time analysis. The research aims to contribute to the development of tools for the effective processing and analysis of big data, essential for various fields like e-governance, education, and medicine.

The research will be carried out in stages, addressing the architecture of big data, data extraction, toolkits, and predictive algorithms. The results will be published in international databases such as SCOPUS and WoS.
