Since 1988, the department has been called the "Materials Science and Technology of Materials" department, since bachelor's and master's training in the specialty of materials science has been conducted in the department.
Since its establishment, the "Mechanical engineering and materials science" department has conducted bachelor's and master's training in "Recycling and recovery technology" engineering, "Energy engineering" engineering, and "Materials science" engineering specialties.
From May 27, 2021, the name of the department was changed and the department was called "Material science and processing technologies". Currently, the department is conducting bachelor's programs in "Materials engineering", "Materials science", "Recycling and recovery technology" engineering and "Energy engineering" engineering specialties.
During the last five years, from 2018 to 2023, two PhD dissertations in the field of "Materials technology" were successfully defended in the department - a doctor of philosophy in the field of technical science and a doctor of science in the field of technical science. Currently, one science in the field of technical science is defended in the department his doctoral dissertation is about to be defended, four doctoral students and one doctoral student are working on their scientific works. Employees of the department published 78 articles in various indexed scientific-technical journals included in WoS and Scopus databases.
The department has 2 professors, 9 assistant professors, 5 associate professors. teacher, 3 teachers and 5 teaching assistants work. Since May 2016, the department has been joined by an associate professor, technic. Tahir Oaffar oglu Jabbarov is in charge.
Head of the department - Tahir Oaffar oglu Jabbarov.
