    Enviromental Recycling Project

The project aimed at recycling batteries, organized by the ASOIU Student Alliance for Sustainability, has been completed. Within the scope of the project, the collected batteries were handed over to the Waste Management Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources for recycling purposes. It should be noted that a special container was placed at the entrance of ASOIU as part of the project. Students and staff placed their used batteries in this container throughout the semester for recycling. The aim of the project was to reduce the carbon footprint and preserve the environment.

    Tree Planting Campaign

ASOIU Student Alliance for Sustainability, in collaboration with the "ASOIU Green World Ambassadors" program, organized a tree-planting campaign in the Surakhani district of Baku. This event was part of the wider initiative to celebrate the declaration of 2024 as the “Green World Solidarity Year,” an initiative sanctioned by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in his order dated December 25, 2023. The campaign was designed to contribute to environmental sustainability and support the expansion of green areas in Baku, while fostering a deeper sense of ecological responsibility among participants.

During the event, 400 trees were planted, marking a substantial step towards enhancing the capital city's green spaces and improving the region's ecological balance. Through such initiatives, the ASOIU Student Alliance for Sustainability continues to contribute to the global effort for a greener, more sustainable future.

Field trip to “Eco Park” Innovation Center

"ASOIU Green World Ambassadors" in collaboration with the Student Alliance for Sustainability visited the "Eco Park" Innovation Center as part of the ongoing efforts under the "Green University" project. This visit was organized in the context of the "Green World Solidarity Year," a designation declared by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and in anticipation of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

One of the most remarkable aspects of the "Eco Park" is its transformation from a former oil-extraction site into a lush, green space, featuring a diverse array of plants, including rare species. Through the ongoing "Green University" project, the ASOIU Student Alliance for Sustainability continues to lead initiatives that align with the global environmental agenda, ensuring that students play an active role in shaping a more sustainable future.
