Ambassador – Cuba is eager to benefit from ASOIU’s experience in staff training for the oil industry

On March 5 Rector of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU), Professor Mustafa Babanli met with Alfredo Nieves Portuondo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cuba to the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Expressing satisfaction with seeing the guest at the university, Rector, Professor Mustafa Babanli provided comprehensive information on ASOIU history, foreign students, training process and the Azerbaijani-French University (UFAZ). Rector, Professor Babanli said over 200 Cuban specialists have been trained at ASOIU. He pointed at the significance of involving Cuban students to the university again. Rector Babanli also added that ASOIU is ready for mutual cooperation in student mobility, startups and technology transfer and other areas.

Ambassador Alfredo Nieves Portuondo expressed contentment with being at the university and spoke about the investigation and development of oil and gas in his country. Ambassador Portuondo highlighted that ASOIU has many Cuban alumni. He emphasized that these specialists are specially distinguished in Cuba and are professionals in their fields. Despite some Cuban universities preparing specialists for the oil industry, Ambassador Portuondo stressed that benefiting from ASOIU’s broad experience in staff training is of great importance for his country. He noted the particular significance of involving Cuban students to enroll in Master’s degree at ASOIU.

The guests then visited the History Museum of ASOIU.
