On December 25 Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) hosted a commemorative event marking the 100th anniversary of Professor Rasmi Abdullayev, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, whose contributions significantly shaped the development of Geophysical science.
In his opening speech, ASOIU's Acting Rector, Associate Professor Vazeh Askarov welcomed the guests and noted the importance of holding such an event at ASOIU. He highlighted that Rasmi Abdullayev's status as one of the university's honorary alumni was a testament to his exceptional contributions to geological science.
Subsequently, Professor Tofig Ahmadov from the "Geophysical Exploration Methods" Department spoke about "Professor R.A.Abdullayev's life and activities"; Academic Akif Alizade, Director of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, presented on "Professor R.A.Abdullayev – prominent scientist"; Professor Vagif Seyidov, Head of "Geophysical Exploration Methods" Department, discussed "History of Geophysics Department"; and Doctor of Geological-Mineralogical Sciences, Namaz Yusubov spoke about "Professor R.A.Abdullayev as educator and scientist." Speakers noted that Rasmi Abdullayev was a globally recognized geologist and discussed his life and work.
The ceremony included a video address from ASOIU Honorary Professor Lev Eppelbaum. Dr. Nazim Abdullayev, the honoree's son, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the recognition of his father's legacy.
Finally, renowned journalist Nadejda Ismayilova, screenwriter of the film "Portrait Drawn Through Time's Wrinkles" dedicated to the famous geologist Rasmi Abdullayev, shared her thoughts about the film, noting how challenging yet proud it was to converse with R.Abdullayev during his lifetime and create such a film.
The event concluded with the screening of "Portrait Drawn Through Time's Wrinkles," a film dedicated to R.Abdullayev.
