Meeting of Academic Board held at ASOIU

On October 30 the Academic Board of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) held its next meeting.

Rector of ASOIU, professor Mustafa Babanli first provided information about the issues on the agenda. He noted that today 4 issues will be discussed in the Academic Board and each issue is quite actual in terms of improving the quality of education. Then Professor Mustafa Babanli gave a speech to Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Associate Professor Gasim Mammadov to provide information about the implementation of academic burden for the 2018-2019 academic year and the vacancies of the teaching staff and academic-support staff for the 2019-2020 academic year. Associate Professor G. Mammadov made a report on the implementation of academic burdens for each of the 27 departments of the university, academic hours and vacancies of academic staff of the university. Comparing the existing indicators with the indicators of the previous academic year, he informed the participants with the real results. At the meeting led by the ASOIU's Rector, Professor Mustafa Babanli, the rector speaking about the positive and negative aspects of the educational process and the attitude of teachers and students to the lesson, urged teachers to be more responsible. Then the members of Academic Board consistently discussed various issues on the agenda. The Academic Board featured discussion on qualification issues, the status of developing a new educational program for all specialties for the 2020-2021 academic year, existing problems and its elimination in the organization of teaching in English in current academic year, conducting lectures, workshops and laboratory lessons using web distance auditoriums. Professor Mustafa Babanli emphasized the importance of conducting high level of teaching at the bachelor, master's and doctoral levels and urged board members to be very attentive in discussing these issues. The issues raised for discussion were approved by the board members.

At the meeting also the dean of the faculty of Geological Exploration, Associate Professor Namad Pashayev made an annual report. He provided information on admission of students to specialties within the faculty, the average score indicators, teaching and education indicators within the faculty. He spoke about the organization of lesson in Web distance auditoriums and the establishment of distant relations with enterprises. After expressing comments and suggestions in connection with the reports, Rector Mustafa Babanli noted that the decisions on works to be implemented will be discussed at the next meetings of the Board.
