On January 10, the seminar on "Familiarization with High Performance Computing (HPC) Center and Big Data" was held at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University.

The event was attended by the ASOIU's Rector, Professor Mustafa Babanli, academic staff of the university, working group of the HPC Center and representatives of state agencies. Providing brief information to the event attendees about HPC Center Professor M.Babanli underlined  four main points in the establishment of the center. We do our best to make AzII to be in the center of all the innovation processes going on in the country as a science and education temple and play locomotive role, to provide personnel training. Saying that one of the second and most important areas is to transform ASOIU into a national research university, Rector Mustafa Babanli added that one of the most important advantages for obtaining the status of a national research university is the flexible, operative implementation of research reports, using of the High Performance Computing Center, that is, supercomputers, their application in the educational and teaching process. Noting that the third purpose is to fulfill the orders of Azerbaijani enterprises in accordance with the modern trends in the country and meet their growing demand, the rector of the university highlighted that the other main purpose is to present to the world as a university.

Then according to the plan of the seminar, the head of the Department of General and Applied Mathematics of ASOIU, Doctor of mathematical sciences, Professor Araz Aliyev made a report on “Solvable issues on the basis of parallel algorithms”, assistant of the "Department of General and Applied Mathematics" Elviz Ismayilov on “Features and Opportunities of HPC Systems", Nigar Ismayilova, senior lecturer of the Department, made a report on “Application areas of HPC Systems”.

Then the seminar continued with question and answer around the topic and Professor Ehsan Musavi answered participants' questions related to the center.
