On January 15 an official Memorandum of Understanding within the framework of to strengthen and develop professional cooperation in the education area was signed with Total E&P Absheron - Strasbourg University (Unistra) - UFAZ and Pasha Bank OSC - Strasbourg University (Unistra) - UFAZ at Azerbaijan -French University (UFAZ) functioning under the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU).
Signing ceremony was attended by ASOIU's Rector, Professor Mustafa Babanli, Rector of Strasbourg University Michel Deneken, French Ambassador to Azerbaijan Zakari Gross, President of Total E&P Absheron Regis Agut and Chairman of the Executive Board of PASHA Bank Taleh Kazimov, UFAZ delegation, students as well as representatives of the media.
Making a speech at the event, ASOIU's Rector, Professor Mustafa Babanli underlined that UFAZ has many partners and the support of these partners played significant role in the success of UFAZ projects. Noting that 125 students will graduate from UFAZ in the current academic year, Rector M.Babanli spoke about the opportunities that partnership relations create for students. In his speech, Rector of Strasbourg University Michel Deneken said that modern universities have great opportunities in order to build relations with science, education and industry.
Expressing his belief that this cooperation will further strengthen the ties between the university and the industry, M.Deneken noted that the global projects exist as a result of the great collaborations.
In his speech, French Ambassador to Azerbaijan Zakari Gross noted that thanks to these memorandums with Total, PASHA Bank and the French Embassy with UFAZ, the best students will be selected from UFAZ and get opportunity to continue their education in France and will also have impact on their successful integration into business and industry.
Speaking about the importance of students' relations with companies, President of Total E&P Absheron R.Agut said that the company led by him always supports UFAZ students and such cooperation plays an important role in the forming of young people as qualified personnel in Azerbaijan.
Then making a speech, chairman of the Executive Board of PASHA Bank Taleh Kazimov, expressed his belief that the partnership would be beneficial for the progressive and professional development of students.
The official Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between Total E&P Absheron and the French Embassy. The agreement is expected to further strengthen Total E&P Absheron and UNISTRA-UFAZ relations.
Notably, Jean-Claude Heidmann, Director for General Education Development of Total France office and Christelle Lavalou, Coordinator for International Programs visited UFAZ on July 17, 2019. Meeting with the UFAZ administration, the representatives spoke about the scholarship opportunities provided by Total for master's programs in France every year.At present, UFAZ students actively participate in the competition held for scholarships. Some of the students who will receive the Total Scholarship will be awarded the title of a French Government grant-holder by the Embassy and this will more beneficial for them during their study in France.
