On February 29 Azerbaijan-French University (UFAZ) functioning under ASOIU held the first symposium of the grant-holders of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
The symposium held in order to get acquainted with the DAAD grant-holders from Azerbaijan, to provide networking by bringing them together, as well as to discuss job opportunities with them, was attended by the ASOIU's Rector, Professor Mustafa Babanli, Deputy Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Andrea Suhl, Head of the Department of International Relations of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mujdat Hasanov, as well as the representatives in the field of European education and DAAD alumni from Azerbaijan.
Opening the event, the Rector of the ASOIU, DAAD alumni, Professor M.Babanli, spoke about the educational relationship between Germany and Azerbaijan and spoke about the opportunities for Azerbaijani youth created by DAAD functioning in Azerbaijan for over 20 years.
Highly appreciating the DAAD contribution to education, Rector M.Babanli noted the importance of this program for supporting young people, also the significance of learning the European educational structure. In his speech, the Deputy Ambassador of Germany A.Suhl spoke about the activities of DAAD and highly appreciated the establishment of grant-holders' networking and noted that the symposium is of great importance. M. Hasanov, Head of the Department of International Relations of the Ministry of Education, spoke about the relationship between DAAD and the Ministry of Education.
Noting that there are more than 400 DAAD graduates in Azerbaijan, M.Hasanov underlined that these young people are currently hold high positions in many public and private enterprises. Stressing that today Azerbaijani youth benefit from DAAD opportunities M.Hasanov noted that young people can be involved in doctoral education in Germany. Acting head of the DAAD Baku Information Center, Hikmat Kamalli, made a presentation about DAAD's activities in Azerbaijan and provided a brief information on scholarship opportunities and higher education in Germany.
Then the report of Christina Shaar, Alumni Department Representative from the DAAD Bonn Center and "Alumni activities" of representatives from other countries were heard. In the second part of the symposium, the work with groups carried out on the needs of alumni, joint activity opportunities, as well as the legal conditions for alumni activities. Notably, DAAD is a joint German higher education institution supported by Germany. The network is provided with 15 foreign organizations, 57 data centers and more than 450 lecturers and experts in more than 60 countries.
