The Caucasus Center of Strategic Alliance of Higher Education Institutions uniting 27 countries and 173 universities will be in ASOIU

An online conference of the Strategic Alliance of Higher Education Institutions entitled "International cooperation in the post-epidemic period and a new approach to exchange" organized by Lanzhou University of China was held on November 27. The conference was attended by more than 150 universities from 27 countries, including the Azerbaijan State Industry Oil and University (ASOIU).

Recall that ASOIU is a member of the Strategic Alliance of Higher Education Institutions, established in 2015 by the People's Republic of China on the basis of the "One Belt and One Road" initiative. This institution, which unites 173 universities from 27 countries, has a great international reputation.

The two-part conference held online featured discussion on the most important issues related to education, new approaches in international relations, exchanged views on the work to be done in the field of education during and after the pandemic, analyzed the details of the new development mechanism based on realities and perspectives.

At the conference also the administration of Alliance also decided to open a representative office here, taking into account the importance of the Caucasus in the Silk Road. ASOIU has been appointed as the center of the Strategic Alliance of Higher Education Institutions in the Caucasus, and Renying Li, the representative of ASOIU in China has been appointed a Secretary General.

The decision was announced at the online conference of the Strategic Alliance of Higher Education Institutions held with the participation of university rectors and officials of the People's Republic of China.

Making a speech at the conference, ASOIU's Rector, Professor Mustafa Babanli expressed his gratitude to the organizers of the conference and noted that this organization, which unites universities in 27 countries and regions, is a great platform to discuss our common issues. Later on, Professor Mustafa Babanli provided information to the conference attendees on the experience of the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University during the pandemic and its path to the world-famous university. He underlined that “We mobilized all our opportunities and switched to online training in a short period of time.

At the same time, we used the MICROSOFT TEAMS platform. This type of education has also affected all our foreign students, including from almost all the countries of the Silk Road, from China to Turkmenistan. Certainly, there were many shortcomings in the method of conducting online classes, but we have also witnessed positive results". Emphasizing the importance of sharing mutual experiences, Professor Mustafa Babanli noted that “Other universities participating here also have experience in conducting online classes and we should support each other. For instance, it would be advisable to create a working group to which we would be happy to provide our materials in the field of oil and gas engineering. He also stressed that ASOIU is ready to share its experience in innovative areas such as Electronic university, Full automation of educational processes, Education-Research-Industry integration, Transfer of technologies, Startups, IT Academy.

At the end the Rector of ASOIU, Professor Mustafa Babanli thanked the "One Belt, One Road" University Alliance for the decision to establish the Caucasian sub-alliance in Azerbaijan and the trust in ASOIU.

Notably, the Rector of Mingachevir State University, Doctor of Philosophy in Economics, Associate Professor Shahin Bayramov also made a speech at the event and underlined the importance of the "One Belt, One Road" University Alliance.
