On January 28, the opening ceremony of a memorial plaque of ASOIU's graduate, martyr of the Great Patriotic War Mammadov Alihuseyn Elshad oglu engraved on the building in Sabaunchu district where he lived was held.
The ceremony was attended by MP Vugar Iskandarov, ASOIU's Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs, Associate Professor Ata Babayev and other collaborators of the university, public figures and relatives of our martyr. MP Vugar Iskandarov said that in the 44-day war against the military provocation of Armenia, the brave sons of Azerbaijan like Ali Hussein proved once again what they are capable of, and thanks to them, our ancient lands were liberated from the enemy. He added that our heroic sons, who showed heroism in the battles for the liberation of our lands and rose to the peak of martyrdom, are place of our oath, and their names will always be on the highest peaks.
At the opening ceremony, Associate Professor Ata Babayev spoke about the student years of the brave son of Azerbaijan, martyr Mammadov Ali Hussein, who became martyr in the Great Patriotic War. He noted that Ali Hussein was warm-blooded educated and patriotic young man. Therefore, his dear memory will be remembered by his teachers and fellow students. A.Babayev underlined that like our state, our university will always pay attention and care to our martyrs who graduated from ASOIU and we will always remember them. Other speakers also spoke about the heroism of our martyr, including Alihuseyn Mammadov, and stressed that they rose to the highest peak.
Notably, in 2016 Alihuseyn Mammadov studied on the specialty of Thermal Power Engineering of the Faculty of Power Engineering at ASOIU and graduated from university in 2020 and went to active military service.
When the war started he also took an active part in the war as a soldier. He became martyr on October 9, 2020 in the battles on the Fizuli-Jabrail-Khojavend direction.
For this bravery, Alihusein Mammadov was awarded the medals "For the Motherland" and "For the release of Fuzuli" by the order of the President.
