On May 6 an event dedicated to the 98th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev was held at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU). The event, held in online and offline format, was attended by the Rector of ASOIU, Professor Mustafa Babanli, MP Arzu Nagiyev, academic staff and students of the university.
ASOIU's Rector, Professor Mustafa Babanli spoke about the national leader Heydar Aliyev’s glorious life path, his activity, mission of emancipation, at the same time his invaluable merits during the difficult time of Azerbaijani people. He underlined that now the soul of the great leader is in peace, because for the first time we celebrate the anniversary of the national leader in Azerbaijan, which lands have been liberated from occupation. The rector added that the great leader Heydar Aliyev worked for the development of Azerbaijan during his entire socio-political activity and did his best for our nation and people.Noting that one of the most important issues for the great leader was the liberation of the ancient Azerbaijani lands from Armenian occupation, Rector Mustafa Babanli stressed that the invincible Azerbaijani army fulfilled this mission with honor during 44 days last year and once again informed the attendees that the national leader Heydar Aliyev's tradition of statehood and Azerbaijanism is worthily fulfilled by President Ilham Aliyev today.
He noted that as a result of the far-sighted policy of the great leader Heydar Aliyev both during the USSR and in the years of independence, that today Azerbaijan is recognized and supported in the world as a developed, safe and prosperous state. The MP emphasized that having enough qualified personnel in all areas, including the military, is the result of the great leader's personnel policy. Evaluating the liberation of Azerbaijani lands as a result of that policy, Arzu Nagiyev said that the unity of the people-army-Supreme Commander-in-Chief and the historic victory of our army once again introduced our country to the world.
Professor Jamal Mustafayev, head of the ASOIU's Social Studies department spoke about the services of the great leader Heydar Aliyev referring to the historical facts. He noted that the services of the national leader are invaluable in preserving our national traditions, statehood, as well as our history and conveying it to present modern Azerbaijan. Therefore, as long as Azerbaijani people will exist, the spirit of the great leader will always live in the hearts and will be remembered with respect.
