Our Paralympic Champions have returned to their homeland

On September 6, a third-year student of the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU), who won a gold medal at the XVI Summer Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020, Vali Israfilov, and several of our Paralympic champions returned to Baku.

Swimmers Roman Salei, Vali Israfilov, athletes Orkhan Aslanov, Samir Nabiyev, and taekwondo fighter Abulfaz Abuzarli, who returned home with gold medals, were greeted with great enthusiasm at the Heydar Aliyev airport. The meeting ceremony was attended by Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs, Associate Professor Ata Babayev, Director of the Public Relations and Marketing Department (PRMD), Bahruz Nazarov, Chairman of the Student Trade Union Committee (STUC) Namig Ganjayev, and students.

Recall that Vali Israfilov is a third-year student of the 510.19 group of the Faculty of Energy of ASOIU, the youngest champion of Azerbaijan to break the Paralympic record, won the 11th gold medal at the 2020 Summer Paralympic Games in Tokyo.

It should be noted that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on awarding members of the national Paralympic team for the high results at the XVI Tokyo Summer Paralympic Games and their contribution to the development of Azerbaijani sports. Student of ASOIU Israfilov Vali was awarded the Order "For Service to the Fatherland" 1st degree.
