November 23rd, an event dedicated to the 880th anniversary of Nizami Ganjavi, was held at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU).

The event was attended by the Rector of ASOIU, Professor Mustafa Babanli, Vice-Rectors, academic staff and university students.

Opening the event, Professor Jamal Mustafayev, head of the Department of Humanities of ASOIU, said that the announcement by President Ilham Aliyev of this year as the Year of Nizami Ganjavi is a manifestation of the high value to our culture and national spiritual values. He noted that it is essential to deeply study the rich heritage of the great poet and spread it around the world.

In her speech, Takhmina Badalova, an employee of the department of Nizami studies of the Institute of Literature named after N. Ganjavi of ANAS, spoke about the bright and rich heritage of Nizami Ganjavi, a prominent representative of world literature, a genius Azerbaijani poet and thinker, who has become an integral part of the spirituality of our people.

Then, Professor of the Department Humanities of ASOIU, Rustam Kamal, spoke about the poetics of gestures in the poem "Khosrov and Shirin", Associate Professor of the Department, Yashar Akhmedov spoke on the topic "Philosophical meetings of Nizami Ganjavi".

At the end of the event, ASOIU students, under the guidance of a teacher of the Department of Humanities, Konul Abdullaeva, demonstrated a literary and artistic composition based on N. Ganjavi's gazelles.
