November 25th, within the European HIV testing week framework, the Republican AIDS Center of the Health Ministry of the Azerbaijan Republic held an educational event at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) entitled “Take part and learn about the status of HIV-infected”.
After a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs of the Patriotic War, the ASOIU Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Associate Professor Ata Babayev, greeted the participants on behalf of the Rector Professor Mustafa Babanli and spoke about the importance of the event.
Yegana Zeynalova, the physician at the Republican AIDS Center, made a presentation on HIV infection, detection of disease, research history, social characteristics, and routes of infection. Zeynalova spoke about ways to prevent the spread of the human immunodeficiency virus in Azerbaijan that is considered an extreme threat to health and a healthy and safe lifestyle.
At the end, the students' questions were answered.
As part of the European HIV Testing Week campaign, testing and awareness-raising activities and accessible and anonymous rapid HIV tests are being carried out in several cities across the country.
