On December 8, the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) hosted an event dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding representative of Azerbaijani ashik art and master of words, Ashik Alasgar.

Opening the event, ASOIU Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs, Associate Professor Ata Babayev, said that according to the Order signed by President Ilham Aliyev on February 18, 2021, this year, the 200th anniversary of Ashik Alasgar was solemnly celebrated in our country.

Professor of the Department of Humanities of ASOIU Rustam Kamal spoke about the scientific motives in the work of Ashik Alasgar and noted that he passed on the ancient traditions of ashik art to the present day with the highest artistic and aesthetic criteria.

Farid Agayev, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technologies and Control of ASOIU, spoke about the contribution of Ashik to the folk culture of Azerbaijan, as well as the influence of the Turkic world on the art of ashik.

Then the teacher of the Department of Humanities Vafa Abbasova made a report "Aşıq Ələsgərin yaradıcılığında gözəlliyin tərənnümü".

In conclusion, a literary and artistic composition was demonstrated, prepared by university students to the words of Ashik Alasgar under the guidance of the senior teacher of the Department of Humanities, Konul Abdullaeva.

Note that a book exhibition “Qüdrətli söz ustadı Aşıq Ələsgər 200” was organized in Azİİ e-Book House, dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the outstanding master of words Ashik Alasgar. The exposition includes books of poems by Ashik Alasgar, who took a special place in the poetry of ashiks of the late 19th - early 20th centuries and articles reflecting the beauty, wisdom, and perfection of human knowledge in the work of ashiks.

In addition to the artist’s skill, the exhibition presents books by literary critics about the poetic possibilities of the Azerbaijani language in Ashik Alasgar’s works, about the correct use of the artistic expression, maintaining nationality, simplicity, form and stylistic features of lyrical samples.
