Cooperation between ASOIU and British Council expands

On January 18, a meeting was held at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) with the British Council in Azerbaijan representatives.

The meeting was attended by ASOIU Rector, Professor Mustafa Babanli, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Associate Professor Gasim Mammadov, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Associate Professor Rafik Jamalov, Deputy Vice-Rector for International Relations Ulviya Abbasova, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages, Associate Professor Farida Huseynova, as well as the Director of the British Council in Azerbaijan Francis Gardener-Trejo, English and Education Programs Manager Nargiz Huseynova, and Exam Services Manager Nargiz Akbarova.

Welcoming the guests, ASOIU Rector, Professor M. Babanli, informed about the complex work being carried out at ASOIU to develop the teaching of English at the international level. He noted that many new projects with the British Council are planned from the current academic year.

Expressing satisfaction with the partnership with ASOIU, F.G. Trejo, Director of the British Council in Azerbaijan, said several innovations are envisaged at the new cooperation stage, including acceptance of ASOIU as a British Council Gold Partner.

The meeting also discussed the establishment of an examination centre at ASOIU for IELTS and APTIS exams for students and teachers, as well as APTIS exams for 1st and 2nd-year students, and several other vital issues arising from the project. The parties listened to comments and suggestions on new projects and exchanged views.
