From March 21 to March 27, Aynur Jabiyeva, Associate Professor of the Instrument Engineering Department of the Faculty of Information Technology and Control of the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) and Nabi Iskandarov, lecturer of the department, visited the Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara, Turkey. 17 representatives from 12 different universities of Azerbaijan took part in a business trip within the framework of the project "Improving the qualifications of teachers and studying international experience based on a grant competition", organized by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the topic "Development of higher and secondary specialized education for 2021-2022".
It should be noted that with the participation of 42 researchers involved in this project, 11 webinars were held, 8 module tasks were completed, and 17 participants with the highest scores, including Associate Professor Ainur Jabieva and teacher of the Instrument Engineering Department, Nabi Iskandarov, visited the Middle East Technical University (METU) to participate in face-to-face training to get acquainted with the Human-Computer Interaction Lab.
The first day of the visit was acquainted day with the Middle East Technical University. Professor Kurshat Çagyltay, Dr Serkan Alkan, and a representative of the Office of International Relations of the university, Dr Ibrahim Yorgun, told the project participants about the university and answered guests' questions. During the visit, the project participants, accompanied by Alpay Karagoz and Gorkem Muyan, got acquainted with the Human-Computer Interface (HCI) laboratories of METU. There, in "Tobii Eye Tracker - a laboratory studio for eye-tracking devices", practical tasks demonstrate the purpose and principle of the laboratory. Also, in the computer laboratory of the department "Bilgisayar və Öğretim Teknolojileri Eğitimi", a presentation "Cognitive modelling and CogTool - interface design system" by Serap Yagmur and a lesson on practical implementation were held.
During the visit, the participants got acquainted with Teknokent of the Middle East Technical University, received information about research centres, current projects, implementing companies, Teknokent CoZone, and discussed the prospects for cooperation.
After a series of meetings, a discussion was held between the project expert, Professor Kurshat Chagiltay and the project participants. Various prospects for cooperation were discussed, as well as the presentation of the professor's book "İnsan-Bilgisayar Etkileşimi ve Kullanılabilirlik Mühendisliği" which will be translated into Azerbaijani as part of the project, and holding a joint international conference on the study of human-computer interfaces.
