On June 23, ASOIU's AzII e-Book House hosted the presentation of Professor Musa Gasimly's book "History of the Republic of Azerbaijan" (1991-2021).
At the event, the Director of AzII e-Book House, Salahat Makhmudova, gave information about the book. It was noted that the book was published by the decision of the Academic Board of BSU. The book, published in 2021, consists of 2 volumes. In general, it covers the years 1991-2021. Volume I covers the period from 1991 to 2003, and Volume II covers the period from 2003 to 2021. The book is of high quality and elegant design.
Volume I deals with the most critical problems in the political history of the Azerbaijan Republic. The manual tells about the beginning of Armenia's unfounded territorial claims against Azerbaijan, the brutal expulsion of our compatriots from their ancestral lands, the bloodshed in Askeran, the Sumgayit events and the January 20 tragedy.
Also, the first volume of the book presents the decisions taken in Nakhchivan under the Heydar Aliyev leadership, the Khojaly genocide, the foreign visits of the great leader Heydar Aliyev, the Contract of the Century - oil strategy, the adoption of the first constitution, the appointment of President Ilham Aliyev to the post of prime minister, his speech at the General the UN Assembly and other important historical events.
Volume II reflects the presidential elections of October 15, 2003, the foundation of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, the establishment of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the joint Turkish-Azerbaijani military drills, the martial law in the country, the formation of the unity of the people and the army, the liberation of our lands from the enemy, the Victory Parade and other significant events. The book is intended for politicians, diplomats, students studying history and political sciences, and a wide range of readers interested in the history of Azerbaijan.
ASOIU Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs, Professor Latafat Gardashova, Head of the Humanities Department, Professor Jamal Mustafayev, and the Department staff - Professor Irada Nuruyeva, Associate Professor Yashar Ahmedov and Associate Professor Tahir Jafiev shared their impressions of the book and stressed that such a publication is a valuable resource for readers. It should be noted that the teachers of the Humanities Department of the University took an active part in the presentation; they pointed out that the book reflects important events in Azerbaijan.
