Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) attends the 8th Baku International Book Fair with the support of the Ministry of Culture on October 5 at the Baku Expo Center.
Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmedov, Minister of Culture Anar Karimov, Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Cahit Bagchi, Azerbaijani folk writers and poets, well-known young writers, publishers and other famous people from different countries took part in the opening of the exhibition dedicated to the "Year of Shusha". The exhibition was organised to promote reading, familiarise with the printing products of Azerbaijan and foreign publishers, create new links between libraries, support publishing, and familiarise publishers with bookstores for possible cooperation.
More than 70 exhibits (books, magazines, etc.) are presented at AzII e-Book House's special stand. Among the books on display is the legacy of Heydar Aliyev, books dedicated to the sons of Azerbaijan who showed heroism for the freedom of our land, as well as martyr graduates of ASOIU, reflecting the chronicle of the Victory in the 44-day Patriotic War, photo albums, textbooks prepared by the teaching staff of the university, monographs, old manuscripts, miniature books that meet the criteria of unique and rare books, bibliographic indexes reflecting the labour and pedagogical and social activities of scientists and academicians of the university, books on the oil and other industries, including the printed organs of ASOIU "Proceedings of Azerbaijan High Technical Educational Institutes" and "Oil and Industry" magazine.
It should be noted that more than 60 foreign organisations from more than ten countries, 118 local publishing houses and enterprises related to printing and book art are represented at the exhibition. More than 200 events in various formats are planned within the framework of the exhibition. VIII Baku International Book Fair will run until October 9.
