On December 13, the 71st Scientific-Technical Conference of Students dedicated to the "Shusha Year" began at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU).

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the conference, which began with the performing of the national anthem, Professor Mustafa Babanli, ASOIU Rector, greeting the event participants, spoke about the importance of the conference in terms of revealing the scientific potential of young people and introducing them to science. Speaking about the conditions created for the involvement of students and doctoral students in scientific research, Rector M. Babanli noted the importance of increasing the scientific activity of young people and wished success to all participants.

Professor Jamal Mustafayev, Head of the Social Sciences Department of ASOIU, spoke about Shusha in his speech. He presented historical facts about the ancient history of Shusha, its strategic importance, and historical and cultural heritage.

Elviz Ismailov, Chairman of the Council of Student Scientific Societies of ASOIU, made a presentation and said that out of 398 abstracts received in 9 sections, 238 articles and abstracts were accepted for the conference after technical and plagiarism checks. E. Ismailov said that 95 articles and 143 theses would be heard at the conference, which will be held online and offline, and wished success to the participants.

Subsequently, the conference continued its work in various sections. Professor M. Babanli, ASOIU Rector, took part in the sessions of the sections, listened to the students' speeches and gave his comments and recommendations.

It should be noted that the conference's closing ceremony will take place on December 16.
