ASOIU holds discussions with UK officials on climate change

On February 2, the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University hosted a discussion on climate change with David Moran, the UK Regional Energy Security and Climate Ambassador for Europe and Central Asia. It should be noted that David Moran, the Ambassador, is in Baku to represent the British government at the 9th Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council, which will be held in Baku on February 3.

The meeting was attended by Professor Mustafa Babanli, the Rector of ASOIU, Vice-rectors, teachers and students of the university, as well as Fergus Auld, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the delegation. Welcoming guests M.Babanli, the Rector, informed them about the university. Emphasizing the relevance of the topic under discussion, M.Babanli, the Rector, noted that energy security issues are a priority in ASOIU.

Expressing his satisfaction with being at ASOIU, F.Auld, the Ambassador, stressed the importance of efforts in climate and energy security worldwide and emphasized the importance of intergovernmental dialogue in this direction.

D. Moran, the UK Regional Energy Security and Climate Ambassador for Europe and Central Asia, spoke about the importance of solving problems related to climate and energy security, including energy resources problems and about the difficulties faced by world governments in this direction, about the work they have done, and the points to which it is worth paying attention. The meeting continued with a discussion of the problem of climate change.

As part of the discussions, a meeting was held between M.Babanli, the Rector and F.Auld, the Ambassador. The sides exchanged views on cooperation and promising issues.

Expressing his satisfaction with being at ASOIU, F.Auld, the Ambassador, stressed the importance of efforts in the field of climate and energy security in the world on an international scale and emphasized the importance of intergovernmental dialogue in this direction.
