ASOIU students and graduates offered about 1,300 vacancies and internships at 14th Alumni-Career Fair

On May 20 14th Alumni-Career Fair was held at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU). At the fair, 115 state institutions and companies offered 1,300 vacancies and internship places.

Professor Mustafa Babanli, Rector of ASOIU, Mustafa Abbasbayli, Chairman of the Managing Board of Azerbaijan Public Employment Agency, Kamal Abbasov, Deputy Minister of Energy, as well as employees of state institutions and different companies, media representatives, as well as students and graduates, attended the opening ceremony of the Alumni-Career Fair. A total of 2214 CVs were collected from the students at the fair. 316 senior students were involved in paid, unpaid summer and year-round internships, and 16 ASOIU graduates were hired by the companies during the fair.

Speaking at the fair, Professor Mustafa Babanli, the Rector, welcomed the participants and noted that relations with companies are expanding at the university, large-scale steps have been taken during the last academic year to improve the efficiency of activities in this area, the internship has acquired essentially new content. Noting that alumni-career fairs are an essential platform between institutions and the university, M.Babanli, a rector, stressed that through such fairs, students got a great chance to provide jobs and adapt themselves to the working environment.

Mustafa Abbasbayli, Chairman of the Managing Board of Azerbaijan Public Employment Agency, said that the Alumni-Career fairs traditionally organised at ASOIU make an important contribution to university-enterprise cooperation. Saying that the training of highly qualified personnel meeting the requirements of the labour market is one of the main goals of higher education institutions, M.Abbasbayli highly appreciated ASOIU's activities in this direction.

Then, Professor Mustafa Babanli, Rector of ASOIU, and the guests got acquainted with the stands of the participating institutions. Company representatives informed about the available vacancies and internships.

The fair continued with dance and musical numbers performed by ASOIU's Ganjlik Song and Dance Ensemble and talented students.

It should be noted that ASOIU holds Alumni-Career fairs twice a year in December and May, starting in 2015. Over 5,000 vacant jobs and internships were offered to students and graduates during the alumni-career fairs. Hundreds of our graduates have been provided with jobs thanks to these exhibitions.
