ASOIU, Innovation Management and TRIZ Institute and Turnitin company sign memorandum

On May 30, a conference titled "Upholding Academic Integrity in the Age of Artificial Intelligence" started at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU).

Speaking at the conference, Prof. Mustafa Babanli, the rector, welcomed the guests and emphasised the significance of academic honesty and the fight against plagiarism in contemporary times. Mustafa Babanli, the rector, further underscored the importance of collaborative efforts between universities and scientific institutions to raise awareness about the significance of academic integrity and advocate for utilising the Turnitin program. 

During the conference, Prof. Ali B.Kutvan, Chairman of the Board of the Innovation Management and TRIZ Institute, Ulker Sattarova, associate professor, Chairman of the Executive Board at Education Quality Assurance Agency, and Firuza Mayilova, representative of the High Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan discussed joint marketing initiatives. These initiatives included the promotion of Turnitin solutions, the advancement of academic integrity, and the necessary measures to eliminate all forms of academic violations within educational institutions in Azerbaijan. The academic integrity program was recognised for its particular significance as a fundamental platform for training staff with creative and analytical thinking, as well as fostering the development of original thought. Additionally, the conference deliberated on enhancing the educational environment, preventing plagiarism, and cultivating a culture of honesty, originality, and critical thinking among students and researchers in Azerbaijan's educational institutions.

Subsequently, a trilateral memorandum was signed by ASOIU, the Innovation Management and TRIZ Institute, and Turnitin company.

At the conference, reports were delivered by Katya Levchenko, the representative of Turnitin company; Elmina Kazimzade, a member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Education; Dritan Manaj, another representative of Turnitin company, and Ulviyya Mikayilova, PhD, the dean of the Faculty of Education at ADA University. The reports delivered by these representatives focused on the requirements for combating plagiarism, highlighting existing problems based on facts, and proposing necessary actions to prevent such instances. In the end, the participants' questions were answered.
