On June 14, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) convened a meeting as part of the observance of "Human Rights Month". The event was attended by university academic staff and students.
During the meeting, Associate Professor Ata Babayev, the Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs at ASOIU, emphasised that protecting human rights in Azerbaijan is an essential priority for the state. He highlighted the significance of educating the younger generation in this domain at the university.
Farrukh Huseynov, the Chief Lawyer at ASOIU, delivering a speech, underscored that the state's highest objective is to ensure the rights and freedoms of all individuals in Azerbaijan. Elaborating on the legal education provided to various population segments, emphasising the development of their legal mindset and culture, he emphasised the importance of individuals being aware of their rights.
Following, the participants had the opportunity to ask legal questions, which were addressed.
It is worth mentioning that June 18 is commemorated as Human Rights Day in Azerbaijan, as stipulated by the decree issued by President Ilham Aliyev on June 18, 2007. In line with this significant date, Human Rights Month has become a customary observance in the Republic of Azerbaijan, spanning from May 18 to June 18, thanks to the initiative of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elmira Suleymanova.
