On July 14, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU), in collaboration with the Nasimi District branch of the New Azerbaijan Party, organised an event titled "A Life Devoted to the People" in honour of the 100th anniversary of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev.
Before the event, the Acting Rector of ASOIU, Associate Professor Vazeh Askarov, and the university's academic staff visited the Alley of Honor to pay tribute to the memory of the Great Leader. The collective of ASOIU also honoured the memory of the distinguished ophthalmologist and academic Zarifa Aliyeva.
Before the start of the event in the Assembly Hall of the university, wreaths were laid in front of the monument of the Great Leader by the Acting Rector of ASOIU, Associate Professor Vazeh Askarov, the Chair of the Nasimi District organisation of the New Azerbaijan Party, Azer Suleymanov, the Deputy Head of the Nasimi District Executive Authority, Gulara Verdiyeva, and the university's academic staff.
The event began with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, followed by a minute silence in memory of the National Leader, Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the liberation of our lands.
Afterwards, a documentary film dedicated to the activities of the Great Leader, Heydar Aliyev, was shown.
Following the film's screening, the Acting Rector of ASOIU, Associate Professor Vazeh Askarov, discussed the historical significance of the first ascent to political power by the exceptional figure Heydar Aliyev on July 14, 1969. He elaborated on Heydar Aliyev's unparalleled services to Azerbaijan and Azerbaijanism, whether during his leadership of the republic from 1969 to 1982 or his tenure within the Soviet leadership from 1982 to 1987. He emphasised that during those years, the Great Leader's reforms in education, culture, industry, and the economy laid a favourable foundation for the future development of an independent Azerbaijan Republic. Reflecting on the challenges faced by Azerbaijan after its separation from the Soviet Union, Vazeh Askarov noted that following the election of the national leader Heydar Aliyev as the President of the Republic in 1993, with the support of the people, our country's development took on an irreversible character. He highlighted that this process is currently being continued by President Ilham Aliyev, and Azerbaijan is recognised as a strong economic power and a reliable regional partner with an esteemed international reputation.
The Chair of the Nasimi District organisation of the New Azerbaijan Party, Azer Suleymanov, expressed his gratitude to the administration of ASOIU for supporting their initiative and organising the event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Great Leader. Azer Suleymanov, noting the exceptional role played by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev in the fate of our people, highlighted that his profound contributions have garnered will always remember. He referred to the significant life journey of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, characterising his extensive and diverse legacy as an inexhaustible treasure.
Nasimi District Executive Authority Deputy Head Gulara Verdiyeva noted the unparalleled contributions of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev in the history of our nation, highlighting that this historical figure, who ensured the development and strengthening of national statehood, brought about a turning point in the fate of the Azerbaijani people, leading their country from decline to progress.
Javanshir Abdullayev, the Chairman of ASOIU's Student Youth Organization (SYO), spoke about the special attention and care shown by the National Leader to the youth policy and highlighted its current results.
At the end of the event, active members of ASOIU who have participated in the public and political life of the Nasimi District branch of the New Azerbaijan Party were awarded.
