On July 31, an opening ceremony of the Summer School, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, titled "Riding the Energy Transition: Post-Oil Economy, Alternative Energy, Environmental Protection," was held.
The opening of the 5th International Summer School, organised by Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), featured a speech by the Acting Rector of ASOIU, Associate Professor Vazeh Askarov. He emphasised the significance of the project, expressing confidence that such an international initiative would hold great importance for our students, university, and country. He also extended his best wishes to the participants.
A total of 5 students from Azerbaijan and 10 from Germany participated in the Summer School. Notably, the first lecture took place at ASOIU on the opening day. In addition to the academic program, various cultural events will be arranged for the participants throughout the Summer School, which will continue until August 12. They will have the opportunity to enjoy excursions to significant locations, including Bibi Heybat – the site of the world's first industrially drilled oil well, the headquarters of bp and SOCAR, Icherisheher (Old City), Heydar Aliyev Center, the city of Sheki, and the culturally significant city of Shusha in Azerbaijan.
