From August 26 to September 1, third-year students of SABAH groups majoring in Oil and Gas Engineering at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU), Chingiz Asgarli and Javid Aliyev, participated in the 2023 SEG/Chevron Student Leadership Symposium and the International Meeting for Applied Geophysics and Energy (IMAGE) hosted by the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) in Houston, Texas, USA.

Two students, selected from Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University and UFAZ, represented Azerbaijan among 24 countries. On August 29, an award ceremony for the conference's results occurred. At the ceremony, students from the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG ASOIU Student Chapter) received the award for the best student section for the academic years 2022-2023 from the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG). The ASOIU/UFAZ student section was chosen among 340 SEG Student sections in 66 countries for this prestigious award.
During the conference, ASOIU students delivered presentations.
