American Scholar to deliver lectures at ASOIU

Within the framework of the "English Language Fellow Program," American scholar Tiffani Tillman will be delivering lectures on English language teaching at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) during the academic year 2023-2024.

The primary objectives of the program include Tiffani Tillman collaborating with ASOIU researchers, doctoral students, second-year master's students, and other faculty members for academic purposes in the field of English language research. Additionally, the goal is to enhance the English language skills of Azerbaijani students and teachers by incorporating Western scientific literature more frequently and utilizing citations. Tiffani Tillman will also assist participants in writing academic articles in English, working together with colleagues from English-speaking countries, and, ideally, getting their articles published in English-language peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Upon her arrival at ASOIU, Tiffani Tillman met with the Vice-Rector for International Relations, Associate Professor Rafiq Jamalov, Deputy Vice-Rector for International Relations, Associate Professor Ulviyya Abbasova, the head of the "Foreign Languages" department, Associate Professor Farida Huseynova, and other university colleagues. During the meeting, they exchanged ideas about the educational and teaching processes at ASOIU and discussed the lectures that will be held during the guest lecturer's tenure.

Tiffani Tillman earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in linguistics from Oregon University in 2004 and 2006, respectively. She spent 13 years working in teaching positions at one of the universities in Qatar. Tiffani Tillman also developed and planned curricula for the English Language Program, accredited by the Accreditation Commission of English Language Programs (CEA), consisting of levels A1-B1+ within the Common European Framework and a four-level English Scholarship Program. She has delivered long-term lectures at several leading universities worldwide.
