Orientation Day for new students at UFAZ

On September 13, the Azerbaijani-French University (UFAZ), operating under ASOIU, hosted an Orientation Day for bachelor students admitted to UFAZ for the 2023/2024 academic year.

Welcoming the participants, ASOIU Acting Rector, Assoc. Prof. Vazeh Asgarov congratulated them on becoming UFAZ students and wished them luck. He invited them to be active and encouraged them to make the most of the opportunities provided by the university.

UFAZ Secretary General Elizaveta Bydanova noted that UFAZ is jointly managed by ASOIU and the University of Strasbourg. She informed students about the advantages that the University of Strasbourg offers to UFAZ students. On behalf of the University of Strasbourg, Professor Christophe Serra, Research Expert and Coordinator of the Chemical Engineering Master's Program at UFAZ, conveyed his best wishes to the students.

Deputy Head of the Education Department Samra Shiriyeva and Student Affairs Specialist Gulara Abdunova provided comprehensive information about the teaching process, internal rules, faculty, practical and theoretical courses, laboratory usage, evaluation, and exams at UFAZ.

Later, the coordinators of various specialties informed the students about the educational programs.

In the end, the members of the UFAZ Student Council informed the newly admitted students about student clubs, various associations, and events that take place at the university. Each newly enrolled student will be assigned a curator from the senior students of UFAZ. The curators will guide the newcomers during their first year to help them get acquainted with the university and assist them in overcoming challenges they may encounter for a smoother adaptation.

In the 2023-2024 academic year, 160 students were admitted to the bachelor's degree programs at UFAZ. Among them, 60 will study Computer Science, 40 in Chemical Engineering, 30 in Oil and Gas Engineering, and 30 in Geology and Geophysical Engineering.
