On September 15, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) hosted an event dedicated to the commencement of the academic year and "Knowledge Day."
Prior to the event, the Acting Rector, Associate Prof. Vazeh Asgarov, vice-rectors, and the university's academic staff placed flowers at the bust of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, as well as at the complex created in memory of the 23 ASOIU alumni martyrs who displayed exceptional heroism for the territorial integrity of our country, and at the monument of National Hero Mubariz Ibrahimov.
During the ongoing event in the university's event hall, after the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of our country.
Addressing the audience at the event, Acting Rector Vazeh Asgarov congratulated the students and the faculty on the occasion of "Knowledge Day," wishing them success in the new academic year. He mentioned the significant work done in this direction at ASOIU, including the development of education in our country and the creation and enhancement of a modern educational environment meeting contemporary standards. Associate Prof. Vazeh Asgarov spoke about the essential work carried out at ASOIU in this direction, noting the record number of students admitted to ASOIU for the academic year 2023/2024. He emphasized that extensive work would be carried out to improve the quality of education in the new academic year, expressing hope that this academic year would be marked by brilliant successes.
Associate Prof. Gasim Mammadov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at ASOIU, congratulated the admitted students and the collective, discussing the efforts and the teaching process aimed at shaping young people as highly qualified professionals.
Next, the first-year bachelor's and master's students admitted to ASOIU with the highest scores in the faculties were recognized and rewarded.
Associate Prof. Vazeh Asgarov presented special gifts to three students who achieved the highest scores at the university.
The event continued with a performance by ASOIU's "Ganjlik" Song and Dance Ensemble and a musical performance by a student.
