Event dedicated to Memorial Day held at ASOIU

On September 25, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) held an event dedicated to September 27 - Memorial Day.

The event began with a procession and wreath-laying at the Complex in memory of 23 ASOIU alumni who sacrificed their lives during the Patriotic War.

The event commenced with the National Anthem and a one-minute silence in memory of all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.

Acting Rector of ASOIU, Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov, spoke about Armenia's decades-long policy of aggression against Azerbaijan's historic lands, emphasizing the numerous adversities faced by our people throughout centuries. He discussed the subsequent military aggression that led to the September 27, 2020, war and how the victorious Azerbaijani Army, under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, achieved triumphs during the 44-day Patriotic War. Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov emphasized that the Presidential Decree on establishing Memorial Day is not only a historic document but also a clear example of boundless respect for the dear memory of our martyrs. He stated that the memory of the martyr alumni at ASOIU is always profoundly respected and will always be cherished in hearts.

Azar Suleymanov, the Chair of the Nasimi District Organization of the New Azerbaijan Party, and Vuqar Rahimzade, the Chair of the Khatai District Organization of the New Azerbaijan Party, highlighted that September 27 holds exceptional significance in the history of the Azerbaijani people. They emphasized that this date marks the beginning of a historical era where our Army's strength, power, national unity, and determination were demonstrated to the world. It was noted that the Victory achieved in the Patriotic War, which lasted for 44 days under the leadership of Supreme Commander Ilham Aliyev, with the wisdom of the National Army and with the unity of the people and the state, has been inscribed in the brightest pages of Azerbaijani history. The Azerbaijani people always highly value the services of their hero sons and hold their memory in high esteem.

Following this, a documentary film titled "Heroes who made history" about ASOIU's fallen alumni was screened.

Lastly, a commemorative feast has been held at the university in memory of the dear martyrs.
