On September 29, the International Scientific and Practical Conference titled "Innovative Technologies in Oil and Gas Production," dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Academician Azad Mirzajanzade, was held. The conference was organized jointly by the Ministry of Science and Education, the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), and the Scientific Research Institute "Geotechnological Problems of Oil, Gas, and Chemistry," a subsidiary of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU). The conference featured speeches and extensive presentations about Academic Azad Mirzajanzade, who gained significant renown for his valuable research in the field of oil and gas operations, as well as being the founder of fundamental scientific directions related to petroleum mechanics, technology, and processing.
Before the conference began, participants, including petroleum geologists-scientists from Russia, Kazakhstan, and Bashkortostan, visited the Alley of Honor to pay deep respect to the memory of the great leader Heydar Aliyev and the remarkable ophthalmologist Academician Zarifa Aliyeva. Subsequently, the participants visited the grave of academician Azad Mirzajanzade, offering prayers for his soul.
At the conference held at Marriott Hotel, after Professor Rauf Aliyarov, the director of the Scientific Research Institute "Geotechnological Problems of Oil, Gas, and Chemistry," provided information about the conference to the participants, Academician Khoshbakht Yusifzade, the First Vice President of SOCAR on Geology, Geophysics, and Field Development, shared his memories of academician Azad Mirzajanzade. He noted his experience working with academician A. Mirzajanzade, highlighting not only his valuable research in applied mechanics and oil mining, which gained significant recognition in Azerbaijan and worldwide but also his contributions to the development of the country's oil industry.
During the conference, the Acting Rector of ASOIU, Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov, spoke about the exceptional contributions of academic A. Mirzajanzade to the development of our country's oil industry. Speaking of the academician's scientific achievements, Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov mentioned that one of his greatest gifts to our country and the oil industry was the engineers and oilmen he had nurtured, who have elevated the reputation of ASOIU. He mentioned that the graduates of AzII, who achieved significant success in the oil industry around the world, surpassing national borders, are the successors of academic A. Mirzajanzade, emphasizing that they consistently carry out this mission at a high level.
During the conference, Arzu Javadova, SOCAR Vice President, and Nijat Mammadli, Advisor to the Minister of Science and Education, delivered speeches discussing the breadth of academic A. Mirzajanzade's activity and sharing their memories of his outstanding contributions.
The guests participating in the conference, both online and offline, made comprehensive presentations about academic A. Mirzajanzade. They spoke not only about his contributions to his homeland, Azerbaijan but also about his role in the development of the oil industry and science in other friendly nations and countries. The conference continued with plenary seminars.
