On October 18, an event dedicated to the 18th of October - the Restoration of Independence Day, was held at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU).
The event began with the laying of a wreath at the bust of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, paying deep respect to his memory.
Starting with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the event commemorated the memory of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and the Martyrs with a one-minute silence.
Then, Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov, Acting Rector of ASOIU, greeted the participants and spoke about the historical significance of independence and the challenging yet honorable path Azerbaijan and its people have traversed toward independence. Emphasizing that the political line set by the founder of independent and sovereign Azerbaijan, the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, is firmly continued today by President Ilham Aliyev, Associate Professor Vazeh Askarov highlighted the rapid development of our country and how Azerbaijan is being showcased as a powerful and victorious nation in the world.
Associate Professor Yashar Ahmadov from the Department of Humanitarian Disciplines of ASOIU talked about the political processes in Azerbaijan's history of independence, as well as the factors conditioning independence and the struggle of the Azerbaijani people for national freedom.
The event continued with performances by ASOIU's "Ganjlik" Song and Dance Ensemble and the students.
