On March 28, the rector of the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, Professor Mustafa Babanli met with the British Ambassador to Azerbaijan Carole Crofts and Director General of Weir Oil and Gas in Russia and Central Asia Altug Bilgic.
Providing information to the guests about the history, international cooperation ties, academic process of ASOIU, rector, professor Mustafa Babanli highlighted that the university has a great deal of space for programs taught in English. Rector M.Babanli also spoke about the steps taken in order to improve the quality of education at the university, the exchange process and new projects.
Expressing her pride to be in ASOIU that possess rooted traditions, Mrs. C.Crofts underlined that cooperation between the two countries in the field of industry and oil and gas, as well as the use of new technologies, is of great importance.
Then the meeting continued with the participation of academic staff of the university. The event participants have been demonstrated a broad video presentation on Weir Oil and Gas. Director General of the Company for Russia and Central Asia A. Bilgic made a presentation on the activity directions of the company, existing projects and application of new technologies in the oil and gas industry.
Then a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the parties.
At the end of the event, certificates were presented to the students who passed the internship at the company.
Notably, 150-year history of “The Weir Group” is engaged in manufacturing equipment and providing services for the oil and gas industry. Weir Oil and Gas, which started to operate in Azerbaijan as an official representative of the organization since 2008, has launched a large production enterprise equipped with modern equipment in 2015.
