On April 20, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) held a Republic Subject Skills Contest on physics, mathematics, and chemistry for high school seniors.
A total of 135 ninth-graders from Baku secondary schools took part in the competition. 39 of them tested their knowledge in physics, 53 in mathematics and 43 in chemistry. The exam was written, in Azerbaijani and Russian languages and each student had a right to choose only one subject.
Rector of ASOIU, Professor Mustafa Babanli visited the exam rooms and observed the course of the competition. Later, the rector M.Babanli met with parents of school children participating in the competition and talked about the work carried out to provide young people with the highest level of education at the university and answered their questions.
Notably, the aim of the competition is to increase the interest of young people in exact sciences, discover talented students and guide them through the process of their career choice.
