On May 10-12, the World Karate Goju-Ryu Championship was held in Odessa, Ukraine. The competition also was attended by the 2nd-year student of the faculty of Information Technologies and Control of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University Aykhan Maishzade as a part of the Azerbaijan national team. In 52+kg weight, Aykhan won all his competitors and became world champion.

At the tournament where about 30 our athletes participated, 8 gold, 5 silver, and 7 bronze medals have been won.

Notably, Aykhan Maishzade has engaged in karate since 5 years old and successfully performed many internal and international tournaments.
