On October 4 a solemn opening ceremony of SOCAR-ASOIU Science and Education Center named after Farman Salmanov was held at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU).
The event was attended by the first Vice-President of SOCAR, Academician Khoshbakht Yusifzade, President of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Academician Akif Alizade, ASOIU’s Rector, Professor Mustafa Babanli, deputy minister of Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Novruz Guliyev, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Azerbaijan Mikhail Bocharnikov, deputy chairman of the Duma of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous district Salnikov Alexander, Rector of Yugra State University (YSU) Tatiana Karminskaya , participants of media expedition entitled “Oil way” started from Russia, members of parliament and other public figures.
Firstly, the bas-relief of the great Azerbaijani geologist was opened in front of the newly established "SOCAR-ASOIU Science and Education Center named after Farman Salmanov". After opening of bas-relief presented at ASOIU by The Yugra State University of Russian Federation, the ribbon as a symbol of the opening of SOCAR-ASOIU Science and Education Center named after Farman Salmanov was cut. After paying tribute to the Center woth the guests, the event continued at the conference hall of the university.
Making a speech ASOIU's Rector, Professor Mustafa Babanli greeted the guests and provided information to event attendees about the life path of Farman Salmanov, his selflessness and services in the field of oil exploration. He stressed that the establishment of the Center at ASOIU will stimulate the development of the new Farman Salmanovs in the university.
Speaking about F.Salmanov, the president of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, academician Akif Alizade underlined that Salmanov was a creative person who has devoted his entire life to oil. With his contribution to the world thanks to the oil wells he discovered in Western Siberia, he became a favorite of both countries - Azerbaijan and Russia.
The first vice-president of SOCAR, academician Khoshbakht Yusifzade, noted that along with the oil exploration Salmanov also continued his scientific activity Salmanov continued his scientific activity and was an academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences.
The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Azerbaijan Mikhail Bocharnikov said that the memory of F.Salmanov, who discovered the oil and gas fields in Western Siberia, which is very important for Russia, will always be cherished by the Russian people. The Ambassador added that Salmanov's merits did not only limit in finding oil, but his services also contributed to the development of cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan in this area.

Salmanov in the development of the oil industry in Siberia and shared their memories. It was noted that the special attention paid by the Russian and Azerbaijani presidents to the perpetuation of F. Salmanov's memory, the implementation of new projects in this area is a welcome event, and such support brought joy to millions of people. Today, the center will play a special role in the development of this field at AzII which trains specialists like F.Salmanov and continues F. Salmanov's path.
Within the framework of the event, ASOIU's Rector, Professor Mustafa Babanli and SOCAR's first Vice-President Khoshbakht Yusifzade signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of science and education between SOCAR and ASOIU. It was stressed that SOCAR-ASOIU Science and Education Center named after prominent Azerbaijani geologist Farman Salmanov established within the agreement and equipped with the most advanced software will be given to students On November 1, 2019. Then, according to President Ilham Aliyev's decree on perpetuating the memory of a prominent scientist, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences Farman Salmanov, dated on July 9, 2019, two students with the best indicators of the Faculty of Oil and Gas Production of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University - Aytaj Baba gizi Babayeva and Amrah Parviz oglu Gulubeyli were awarded the "Scholarship named after Farman Salmanov"
