ASOIU signs memorandum of cooperation with “AzerGold” CJSC

Rector of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) Professor Mustafa Babanli met on May 30 with Zakir Ibrahimov, Chairman of the Executive Board of “AzerGold” Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC). The meeting was attended by “AzerGold” CJSC personnel, academic staff and students of ASOIU, as well as media representatives.

Rector of ASOIU Professor Mustafa Babanli noted that despite its recent establishment “AzerGold” has already implemented many successful projects. Pointing out that the cooperation with the Company will bring great benefits to both sides, Rector M. Babanli said that in the future the university will conduct teaching programs following the specializations offered by “AzerGold” CJSC.

Rector, Professor Mustafa Babanli mentioned the subject of providing ASOIU students with internship opportunities in “AzerGold” CJSC, stressing that the graduate theses of students will also be prepared based on the requirements of this company.

Chairman of the Executive Board of “AzerGold” CJSC Zakir Ibrahimov thanked Rector M. Babanli for the cooperation offer and expressed his pleasure to collaborate with ASOIU. Z. Ibrahimov provided the participants with detailed information on the activities of “AzerGold” CJSC and talked about the future projects of the Company. “As the activities of “AzerGold” CJSC gradually expand, the company’s demand for professional experts will increase, and we believe that this problem will be resolved as a result of cooperation with higher education institutions” – said Z. Ibrahimov.   

Later, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University and “AzerGold” Closed Joint-Stock Company signed a memorandum of cooperation.

The aim of the partnership is to support education and scientific and technical development, contribute to the formation of human resources specialized in geology and mining field.

Pursuant to the agreement, the parties will consult on evaluation and research of mining circumstances of non-ferrous metal deposits, as well as on implementation of innovative projects and development programs in this area, and exchange ideas concerning the study of the physical and mechanical properties of ores and adjacent rocks.

The Company will benefit from the scientific and technical potential of the university, and the staff of the educational institution will support “AzerGold” CJSC in resolving the problems occurring during the production process. ASOIU will organize qualification upgrading courses on relevant programs for the CJSC’s staff. Qualified human resources will be prepared in ASOIU based on the Company’s order according to its future needs, and some of the alumni will be employed in “AzerGold” CJSC.

Teachers and students of ASOIU will make use of the operation support facilities of “AzerGold” CJSC, and the university representatives will be provided with conditions to do research in exploration areas and mining enterprises.

Notably, “AzerGold” CJSC was founded according to the decree of the President Ilham Aliyev signed February 11, 2015. The activity of the Company is distinguished by the development of non-oil sector in Azerbaijan and its main objective is the study, research, exploration, management, production, processing, and sales of precious and non-ferrous metal ore deposits, implementation of new technologies in this industry, modernization and efficient use of material and technical base, as well as performance of other activities related to the development of the field.
