Rector of ASOIU meets with DAAD scholarship winners

Rector of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) Professor Mustafa Babanli met on June 30 with students who had won the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) scholarship.

The meeting was attended by Vice-Rector of ASOIU for International Relations Associate Professor Rafig Jamalov, Head of International Cooperation Office Jamila Ismayilzada, Head of DAAD Information Center in Baku Stefanie Dufaux and DAAD scholarship winners.

Rector of ASOIU Prof Mustafa Babanli wished good luck to students who will continue their education in Germany, saying he is confident that they will worthily represent our country and university. Speaking about ample opportunities that DAAD offers to Azerbaijani students to study in Germany, Rector, Prof M. Babanli underlined the significance of a systematic cooperation with DAAD Information Center in Baku on student and teacher exchange and accreditation of specializations.

“Cooperation with DAAD is quite vital for us. Accreditation of specializations is currently of great importance. DAAD Information Center in Baku has given us necessary support in this regard. As Germany has a great experience in this business, the country may play a fundamental role for us. Therefore, we have to work hard in this area. Besides, the fact that German students might come and study at ASOIU can become our other great achievement” – noted Rector, Prof M. Babanli.

Head of DAAD Information Center in Baku, S. Dufaux said that this year the students were more interested in DAAD compared to last year, linking the winning of 3 out of 14 scholarships by ASOIU students to the successfully conducted teaching in the university.

“This year we have observed a significant interest of students in DAAD. Each gained scholarship is a success both for the student and university. Let me also note that if we take into account the high competitiveness for scholarship among the universities, ASOIU leads the list” – said S. Dufaux.

Rector M. Babanli congratulated the students once again and advised them to timely complete their tasks during the studying period and productively spend their spare time.

Notably, four students of ASOIU have won the German Academic Exchange Service scholarship this year. Fourth-year student Gurban Mammadov will study Master’s degree in Germany, whereas second-year student Mehri Aliyeva will attend DAAD’s 1-month long summer school.
