Rector of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University Prof Mustafa Babanli, joining the Vienna conference of the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP) attended by 208 university rectors from 73 countries and dedicated to new tendencies and innovations in education, has held a number of beneficial meetings within the framework of the event.
Student exchange with “Erasmus+” program has been discussed with the Rector of Spain’s prestigious University of Alcala, and the sides have agreed to further expand the cooperation between the two higher education institutions with the intention to cover new areas. Rector M. Babanli has held discussions with CETYS University, Mexico, SIAS International University, China, Grenoble Alps University, France, as well as the University of Calabria and agreed to cooperate on new spheres. Thus, CETYS University in Mexico has allocated scholarships for ASOIU students for participation in its traditional summer school events held annually. As part of the bilateral exchange, SIAS International University has offered scholarships to ASOIU students to study in China for one or two semesters. From initial negotiations with the University of Calabria officials, it has been agreed to develop in ASOIU virtual reality-based simulations in education. It has also been agreed with Grenoble Alps University to conduct dual and triple programs on the specialization "Business Management".
During the conference, strategic plans of the executive board of the IAUP for the following 3 years have been discussed and adopted. Rector of ASOIU M. Babanli has been offered by the IAUP to carry out the regional coordination of the association, as well as to host the international conference in Baku in the spring of 2018 with the participation of IAUP-member university rectors.
Proposal of the IAUP’s regional coordination to an Azerbaijani university along with being advantageous to the recognition of ASOIU and the Republic as a whole will by ASOIU’s initiative and management stimulate the launch and development of some local projects.
