UFAZ entrance examination results announced

The entrance examination results to the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ) on the basis of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) were announced on July 28.

148 out of 428 prospective students who gained more than 500 points during centralized entrance examination organized by the State Examination Center in group 1 and willing to get admitted to UFAZ have successfully passed the examination to become a student of UFAZ. 120 of them have gained a right to study at UFAZ on governmental basis and 28 – on paid basis.

Candidates who participated in UFAZ entrance examination but failed to pass will still have the possibility to apply to other higher education institutions of the republic according to their score obtained at the centralized examination of the State Examination Center.

Having passed the entrance exam successfully, students will be admitted to UFAZ once they confirm their intention to study at the French-Azerbaijani University. If any of the students succeeding at the entrance examination to the French-Azerbaijani University does not provide his/her willingness to study here, the next prospective student in the list with the satisfactory result receives a chance to become a student of UFAZ.

Notably, a total of 160 students per each specialization – 120 on governmental basis and 40 on paid basis – are expected to study at UFAZ.

UFAZ entrance examination questions had been prepared by the representatives of the University of Strasbourg. The knowledge of applicants was also evaluated by French scientists and teachers.

Held on July 27 in the main building of ASOIU, UFAZ entrance examination was followed by Deputy Minister of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, Deputy Head of Apparatus and Head of the Department of Science, Higher and Secondary Education at the Ministry of Education Yagub Piriyev, Vice-Rector of the University of Strasbourg Philippe Turec, UFAZ Executive Director Vazeh Asgarov, UFAZ General Secretary Charlotte Payen, as well as media representatives.

UFAZ was established by the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. Teaching at UFAZ is conducted on 4 specializations – geophysical engineering, chemical engineering, computer science, oil and gas engineering. Upon completion of their studies, UFAZ graduates will obtain two diplomas (Strasbourg University and ASOIU, Rennes 1 University and ASOIU – students majoring in oil and gas engineering).

First student enrollment to UFAZ was carried out in the academic year 2016/2017. There are currently 141 students studying at UFAZ. In comparison with the last year, the number of applicants willing to study at UFAZ has increased by some 40%. Moreover, the number of students who have become the students of UFAZ has also accounted for 148 people compared to 141 in the previous year.
