Establishment of the "Association of Energy Universities of Turkic World States" at ASOIU's International Conference

On October 25, an International Scientific-Practical Conference titled "Energy Locomotives of the Turkic World," dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye, commenced at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) in conjunction with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).

The conference participants initially visited the grave of the founder of the modern Azerbaijani state, National Leader Heydar Aliyev, at the Alley of Honor, paying deep respects to his memory. They also honored the memory of the distinguished ophthalmologist-scientist and academician, Zarifa Aliyeva, by placing flowers at her monument.

The conference attendees also visited the Alley of Martyrs, the Baku Turkish Martyrs' Memorial, and the memorial complex for ASOIU students and graduates who lost their lives during the 44-day Patriotic War.

During the conference, held in the University's Event Hall, the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played, and a one-minute silence was observed to commemorate National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the founder of the Republic of Türkiye, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and the martyrs of Türkiye and Azerbaijan.

Addressing the audience at the opening ceremony, ASOIU's Acting Rector, Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov, welcomed the conference participants and highlighted the special significance of holding a conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye for the Turkic states. Emphasizing that Turkic-speaking countries have developed extensive relations in all fields, particularly in political, economic, cultural, and military areas, Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov underlined the joint participation of Türkiye and Azerbaijan on the same platform as a significant contribution to regional security. He highlighted the increased activity of Turkic-speaking countries in strengthening the unity of the Turkic world, emphasizing that the creation of the  "Association of Energy Universities of Turkic World States" within the framework of today's conference is a significant step. ASOIU's Acting Rector expressed his assurance that this newly created association would be a valuable contribution to collaboration among Turkic nations in the energy sector, especially in transitioning to green energy.

During the ceremony, a contract was signed for the establishment of the "Association of Energy Universities of Turkic World States" with the participation of ASOIU, Batman University, Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology, Azerbaijan Technical University, and AUEZOV University.

Following the signing, Fatih Yilmaz, TİKA's Program Coordinator in Baku, Professor İdris Demir, the Rector of Batman University, and Professor Anvar Shirnayev, the Vice-Rector of Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology, expressed their satisfaction with the conference and discussed the importance of the unity of Turkic states, particularly in the energy sector, including alternative and green energy, for the region. They expressed hope that the newly established "Association of Energy Universities of Turkic World States" created during the conference would contribute to the development of energy cooperation among Turkic states and ensure energy security and the diversification of energy sources in the region.

Aydin Aliyev, the Dean of the Faculty of Power Engineering at ASOIU, delivered a speech on "Heydar Aliyev and the Development Strategy of Sustainable Energy in Azerbaijan," discussing the successes achieved in the Turkish-Azerbaijani partnership and the two countries' achievements in the energy sector.

Following the artistic part, the conference continued with plenary sessions.

It should be noted that with the joint organization and financial support of ASOIU and TİKA, a two-day international conference is being held, attended by representatives from several higher education institutions, both state and private organizations from our country, as well as guests from Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, the Republic of Bashkortostan of the Russian Federation, and other countries. The conference will conclude on October 26th.
