Steering Committee meeting for ASOIU and University of Warwick's Dual Diploma Program conducted

On December 1, a meeting of the Steering Committee (SC) of the Dual Diploma Program in Renewable Energy between Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) and Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) at the University of Warwick was held.

Acting Rector of ASOIU, Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov, emphasized the significance of the SC's first meeting for the future activities of the Dual Diploma Program, highlighting its importance for ASOIU and the country. He noted the extensive teaching opportunities in the renewable energy field at both universities and stressed that the bilateral collaboration would contribute significantly to training the next generation of specialists.

Gareth Roberts, Head of Special Projects at University of Warwick, expressed confidence in the success of the Dual Diploma Program. Participants, including Nijat Mammadli, Advisor to the Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Javid Abdullayev, Director of Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency, and others, discussed the importance of the Dual Diploma Program.

It's worth mentioning that this unique program, delivered by WMG, offers a comprehensive curriculum with eight modules and a project, leading to a University of Warwick MSc, and six modules presented by ASOIU, leading to an ASOIU MSc. The program, initiated in the 2023-2024 academic year, has commenced its first intake for the master's degree.

A team of esteemed professors and instructors involved in this educational program will aid students in acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary to gain a competitive advantage in the dynamic industry and play a crucial role in our nation's shift towards a sustainable, carbon-neutral energy landscape. It should be noted that University of Warwick is currently ranked 64th in the world according to the 2023 QS ranking.

ASOIU's collaboration with University of Warwick aims to create a sustainable educational environment for the preparation of national professionals in renewable energy technologies.
